What it is

A synthetic version of exendin-4, a GLP-1-like peptide from Gila monster saliva; the first GLP-1 agonist approved (2005), in short-acting and weekly forms.

How it works

GLP-1 agonism enhances glucose-dependent insulin, suppresses glucagon, slows gastric emptying and promotes satiety.
